About

What is this site about?

This site is one man’s search to becoming self-reliant in a world that is over-reliant on technology when an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) attack/incident occurs or anything else that shut’s down the electronic lifeline we are so reliant on.

The goal is to document, research, inform and prepare folks like me -who have grown up in the city and have been dependent on the amenities and ease of city living – to live in a world set back over 100 years without electricity, or at least without government electricity.

It is my hope that we can learn, grow and become less dependent on a governmental infrastructure and more self-sufficient.

Who I am

Like I said, I am an every day American who grew up in the suburbs of St. Louis, MO. and lived in a neighborhood, and never grew up with any sort of rural upbringing. I grew up in the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, and times were different then, but I was still dependent and took for granted those things that, if we were ever attacked with an EMP, we would find ourselves without and lacking in understanding how to deal with the situation.

I didn’t like to fish, never hunted (the thought of skinning and gutting something is absolutely foreign to me), never farmed and while I did learn some survival skills while I was enlisted in the U.S. Army, it wasn’t enough to prepare me for life as it was at the beginning of the 20th century that would be the case in an EMP event.

I work with technology – that is my career – and I saturated myself with that technology that I am sure I will not survive long without learning skills that are needed in a world without electricity.

The time has come to change that. Even if I never live long enough to experience that world, I need to have the skills so I can teach my kids so they will be ready.
